Joi: Where Beauty Meets Daily Productivity

A serene approach to organizing tasks, events, and habits in one place

First impressions

Joi is an all-in-one daily productivity app that unifies your calendar, to-do list, and habit tracker into a single elegant timeline. Conceived from a design concept that went viral on Twitter, it immediately showcases its creative roots the moment you launch it.

Rather than juggling multiple apps or screens, Joi organizes your life into three main sections – Meetings, Tasks, and Habits – all presented under one roof. Uniquely, these elements live together on a single scrollable timeline, giving you a cohesive bird’s-eye view of your entire day. Setting up feels seamless too: Joi asks for your wake-up and wind-down times to frame each day and syncs effortlessly with your Apple Calendar and Reminders, so you’re up and running in seconds.

It manages to make planning feel less like a chore and more like a mindful ritual, thanks to its combination of functional clarity and aesthetic charm. In a world of feature-packed productivity tools, Joi’s pared-down, design-forward approach immediately stands out as something refreshingly different.

Available on: iOS only for now

What we love

  • Unified Timeline: Joi brings tasks, events, and habits onto one timeline, giving you an instant overview of your day without switching contexts. This all-in-one design means your meeting schedule, to-do list, and habit tracker are seamlessly integrated – it’s like having a personal command center for your life instead of three separate apps.

  • Seamless Integration: There’s virtually zero friction in getting started – the app pulls in your calendars and reminders automatically, meaning your meetings and to-dos show up instantly with no manual importing. It feels less like a third-party app and more like an upgrade to the built-in Calendar. Joi even extends into health: the Pro plan can integrate with Apple Health to fold your step count and wellness data into a daily summary, giving you a planner that reflects not just your schedule but your well-being too.

  • Focused Simplicity: By trimming the fat, Joi keeps things straightforward: you plan your day, check off tasks, track a few habits, and that’s it – no complex project hierarchies or endless settings menus to configure. Paradoxically, this simplicity can be liberating. If apps like Todoist or Notion have ever overwhelmed you with options, Joi’s pared-back approach will feel like a refreshing change.

Overall rating

🤌🤌🤌 Polished potential

Using Joi for a few weeks made me rethink how a productivity app can subtly shape my daily habits and mindset. By blending tasks, events, and habit tracking in one place, it nudges me to pay equal attention to work and personal well-being; seeing my to-do list alongside my habit goals reminds me to balance “getting things done” with “taking care of myself”. That holistic view is a second-order benefit I didn’t expect: I’ve started allotting time for both productivity and rest.

For all its elegance, though, Joi still feels like a young app in certain areas. There were moments I wished for more depth, like a desktop version for when I’m at my computer, or more advanced options such as recurring tasks and tags to organize projects.

If you liked this recommendation, you would love Any Distance for a simple, distraction-free way of tracking your runs and workouts, while earning collectible achievement medals through your journey.
